Please join us to hear Ulrike Thomas, Manager Regional Development, speak about Care Canada's upcoming 5th annual fundraising event, Walk In Her Shoes, on March 10, 2019 in Calgary.
CARE is one of Canada’s leading international development organizations – they have been active for over 70 years, and started by delivering “CARE packages” to war-torn Europe during and after World War II and have evolved today into one of the biggest humanitarian relief organizations in Canada. We are focused on empowering women and girls, and giving them the opportunities to go to school, work and be part of our village savings and loans program.
Here in Calgary, we have leadership volunteers who run a wonderful local event that I believe your members, as supporters of international development and community building would be very interested in.
Walk In Her Shoes is a global movement where participants walk 10,000 steps in solidarity with women and girls in the developing world, who often have to walk that distance daily to get water, food, firewood and other daily requirements, leaving little or no time to earn a living or go to school.
In Calgary, this 5th annual event will take place on March 10, 2019 at the Calgary Zoo. It is a fun, family friendly event (and a $25 registration fee includes a entry for 4 people into the zoo for the day – and many fun activities and snacks!) that raises awareness and funds for the work CARE does around the world.
