Short- and Long-Term Goals and Objectives

These should be reviewed and prioritized by the club membership at a "planning fair" assembly within the next three weeks

CLUB SERVICE – Short Term

  • To develop a "Strategic Plan for the Next Five Years" [by __________, 2003/4]
  • To decide on the future of "Saskatchewan Days" [by __________, 2003/4]
  • To name/develop a "signature" fund-raising event [by __________, 2003/4]
  • To explore/develop a joint venture fund-raising relationship with a major charitable organization (a corporation, non-governmental organization or service club e.g. Lions) [by __________, 2003/4]
  • To complete the cookbook fund-raiser [by __________, 2003/4]
  • To develop a summer social/fellowship (a non-fund-raiser, such as a family picnic etc.) function [by __________, 2003/4]
  • To participate in a fellowship event with another club [by __________, 2003/4]
  • To re-instate Grape Expectations as a social/fellowship (non-fundraiser) function [by __________, 2003/4]

CLUB SERVICE – Long Term

  • To develop a strategy [by August 1, 2003] that will enable club members to increase their involvement [?to ___ per cent of members / ?#___ of members / ?$ ___ per member] with our exchange student(s)

INTERNATIONAL – Long Term

  • To plan and execute [by __________, 200__] a group holiday (Friendship Exchange model?) of club members / partners / families/ spouses to Cuba with a focus on literacy development

DISTRICT – Short Term

  • To organize [by May 2004] the 2004 District Conference (assist Miriam who will chair the conference)

DISTRICT – Long Term

  • To review [by __________, 200__] our club involvement in district committees over the next 3-4 years (too much, not enough or just right)
  • To develop a plan [by __________, 200__] to groom further members to become involved at the district level (especially at the AG and DG level)

Notes to Objectives:

  • Importance of 60 – 70 % "buy-in" by the general membership
  • Recognition that "sweat equity" is just as important in one service project money might be in another
  • Indicators of success for activities in all avenues.
  • The current president of the Club should be the keeper of the document and about every 6 months during an assembly bring back the status to the membership. Also past presidents should sometimes remind president of the document.

Once the goals and objectives have been reviewed and prioritized by the membership, and members have been given the opportunity to "identify" with one or more goal / objective, the executive and the four avenues of service committees will develop work plans, with appropriate indicators of success, for each of the goals / objectives.
